The European Cycling Union UEC and City Mountainbike are joining forces to strengthen the development of the spectacular mountain bike eliminator discipline in Europe. As from 2024, the cooperation between City Mountainbike and UEC will comprise the organisation of the UEC Mountain Bike Eliminator European Championships, and the further development of a solid European Series.
To give eliminator racing in Europe another push, UEC and City Mountainbike will be joining forces in 2024 and beyond. City Mountainbike and UEC will be setting up the UEC Mountain Bike Eliminator European Championships together, but the cooperation goes further than that: UEC and City Mountainbike have agreed to strengthen each other in the further development of the European Series, as a part of City Mountainbike’s existing Continental Series. In the future, the European Series will comprise up to fifteen races all over Europe.
Kristof Bruyneel, CEO City Mountainbike: "I am proud to announce this cooperation with the UEC, as this marks an important step in the further development of the eliminator discipline in Europe. Thanks to this agreement, City Mountainbike and UEC will strengthen each other to build a solid eliminator circuit in Europe."
Enrico Della Casa, UEC President: “The agreement with City Mountainbike is a new step forward in the UEC’s activities, especially the spectacular discipline of MTB Eliminator which has carved itself out an important place in the cycling world over the years. The experience and professionalism of City Mountainbike will undoubtedly contribute to the success of the European Championships and the European circuit.”
