NETHERLANDS DOMINATE #EUROTRACK25

With the victory of Yanne Dorenbos and Vincent Hoppezak (Netherlands) in the Madison, the 2025 edition of the UEC Elite Track European Championships, which took place at the Sport Vlaanderen Heusden-Zolder Velodroom Limburg in Heusden-Zolder (Belgium), came to an end this afternoon.

A total of 265 athletes (153 men and 112 women) representing 27 nations took part in the event, which attracted more than 7,000 spectators over the five days of competition.

The Netherlands came out on top in the final medal table, winning a total of 16 medals: 8 gold (out of 22 at stake), 4 silver and 4 bronze, ahead of Italy (3 gold and 3 silver) and Great Britain (2, 5 and 4).

Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen, multiple Olympic and world champion, once again confirmed his absolute domination in speed, winning gold in the Sprint and Keirin. In the endurance events, Tim Torn Teutenberg (Germany) won the men's Omnium, while Lorena Wiebes (Netherlands) won the women's Omnium.

The reigning European road champion also took silver in the Scratch event, behind Italy's Martina Fidanza.

Portugal's Iúri Leitão, Olympic champion in Madison, confirmed his talent by winning gold in the Scratch and Points Race events. In the Kilometre, Hetty van de Wouw made history by winning the first European title over the new distance and setting a new world record at 1'04"497.

Anna Morris also won and set a record in the Individual Pursuit, which also saw her claim the title over the 4-kilometre distance for the first time. The Briton managed to improve on the world record (4'30‘752) from the qualifying round (4'28’306), then beat it in the final with a time of 4'25"874.

In the team events, the Netherlands won the Women's Team Sprint with Kimberly Kalee, Hetty van der Wouw and Steffie van der Peet, France the Men's Team Sprint (Timmy Gillion, Rayan Helal and Sébastien Vigier), while the Men's Pursuit crowned Denmark (Tobias Hansen, Niklas Larsen, Norman Lasse Leth and Juel Robin Skivild) and Italy in the Women's with Martina Alzini, Chiara Consonni, Martina Fidanza and Vittoria Guazzini.

The next UEC Elite Track European Championships will be held in Konya (Türkiye) from 11 to 15 February 2026.
