433 riders are registered to compete in the 2021 edition of the Juniors and Under 23 Track European Championships to be held from 17 to 22 August in Apeldoorn (Netherlands).

The continental race will be organised in the modern Omnisport facility, which has already hosted two editions of the World Championships and two European Championships, as well as a Paracycling World Championship. Over the six days of racing, riders from 27 countries will battle it out for 44 titles, divided equally with 22 for Men (Juniors and Under 23) and 22 for Women (Juniors and Under 23).

Among the most representative riders, will be some of the interesting young talents from the international scene, some of who competed in the recent Tokyo Olympic Games: Vittoria Guazzini and Letizia Paternoster (Italy), Maria Martins (Portugal), Ivan Gladyshev (Russia) and Mauro Schmid (Switzerland).

Germany, at the top of the 2020 medals table will be one of the teams to beat, thanks to, among others, Alessa Catriona Propster, gold medallist last year in the Under 23 Team Sprint, Anton Hohne, winner of the Keirin last year and the 2020 Juniors Points Race winner Mortitz Kretschy, now in the Under 23s.

Watch out also for the Italians Chiara Consonni, Martina Fidanza and Silvia Zanardi, the Russians Daniil Komkov, Pavel Rostov and Dmitry Nesterov, the Belgians Noah Vandenbranden, Shari Bossut and Fabio Van den Bossche, the Pole Nikola Wielowska, the French rider Taky Marie Divine Kouame, the Britons Rhys Britton, William Tidball and Blaine Ridge-Davis, the Irish rider Lara Gillespie and the Greek Konstantinos Livanos,

Enrico Della Casa, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: «From 17 to 22 August the Apeldoorn velodrome will welcome on its track girls and boys who are about to experience one of the first international moments of their career, an experience that they will undoubtedly remember as one of their best memories.

On a technical level, during the six days of racing we will see top level and unique competition. We believe that it is vital to give significant and targeted visibility to our youngest riders, their National Federations and teams and the high level of participation in this event proves that we are on the right track.

We will experience a unique and exciting event with six days of great cycling, and I would like to thank the Dutch Cycling Federation for its co-operation and commitment, the organisers Libema Profcycling, with who we have always had a close working relationship and a strong synergy, the City of Apeldoorn, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Province of Gelderland and the Omnisport».
