The Union Européenne de Cyclisme has awarded the organisation of the 2027 MTB European Championships to the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. The event, which will take place over five days, is one of the most prestigious on the MTB international calendar.
More than 400 athletes from over 30 countries will be competing for the 13 titles at stake, including those of the Team Relay and the men's and women's Cross-Country and Short Track races in the Elite, Under 23 and Juniors categories.
Enrico Della Casa, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: “The MTB European Championships have always been a key event in our international calendar and the 2027 edition will be even more important as it will take place just one year before the Los Angeles Olympic Games. The event will benefit from extensive television coverage thanks to our long-standing agreement with Eurovision, providing a prestigious showcase for the athletes and the entire MTB movement.
Sweden is an ideal backdrop for this discipline, having already hosted a historic MTB European Championships in 2016 and successfully staged several editions of the MTB Youth European Championships. Thanks to the experience and passion of the organisers, we are sure that this new edition will be a great success.
