The 2025 BMX Racing European Championships have come to a close in Valmiera (Latvia). From 10 to 13 July, more than 1225 athletes (Championships, Cruisers and Challenge) from 24 countries competed on the iconic track dedicated to Māris Štrombergs, the discipline's first Olympic gold medallist.
In the Women’s Elite category, Great Britain's Bethany Shriever took the European title ahead of the Netherlands' Merel Smulders and Laura Smulders, while defending champion Zoe Claessens of Switzerland finished fifth.
In the Men's Elite category, Mathis Ragot Richard was the big French winner, ahead of his compatriots Arthur Pilard (title holder) and Sylvain André.
In the Women's Under 23 category, local rider Veronika Monika Sturiska won the gold medal for Latvia beating Switzerland's Michelle Wiss and the Czech Republic's Sabina Košárková.
In the Men's Under 23 category, the Netherlands dominated with Jason Noordam beating his compatriot Casper Pipers. On the third step of the podium was Latvian Edgars Langmanis, much to the delight of the public.
In the Women's Junior category, Great Britain's Freia Challis became European champion coming ahead of her compatriot Elsa Rendall Todd and France's Lola De Oliveira. In the Men's Juniors, Latvia triumphed with Kristers Apels, ahead of Sweden's Jesper Wahlberg in second place and Switzerland's Mark Lüthi in bronze.
The next edition of the BMX Racing European Championships will be held in Sarrians (France) from 24 to 28 June 2026.
