Great Britain's Kieran Reilly and Sasha Pardoe are the winners of the BMX Freestyle Park European Championships, a spectacular discipline that has been on the Olympic programme since the Tokyo 2020 Games, held today at the Stisa BMX Freestyle Park in Cadenazzo (Switzerland).
Forty-eight athletes from sixteen countries took part in the continental championships, the first edition of which was held in Cadenazzo in 2019.
After a thrilling qualifying round on Friday, the finals were particularly close, with 2023 European champion, reigning World Champion, silver in Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Kieran Reilly the winner with 93.23 points. The Briton won ahead of France's Anthony Jeanjean (92.63 points) and his compatriot Dylan Hessey (91.33).
Thanks to an excellent performance in the final run, Sasha Pardoe won the Women's title with 88.06 points. The British athlete got the better of reigning European champion Iveta Miculyčová (Cechia), who was second with 85.33 points, and Switzerland's Nikita Ducarroz, who fell at the end of the second run and finished with 83.16 points.
The next edition of the BMX Freestyle Park European Championships will be held in Eindhoven (Netherlands) on 4 and 5 October 2025.
