FOUR UEC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARDED

The Union Européenne de Cyclisme is pleased to announce the awarding of four European Championships that will enhance the calendar over the next few years.

2025 UEC MTB Downhill European Championships

From 1st to 3rd August 2025, La Molina in Catalonia (Spain) will host the MTB Downhill European Championships. The site, already renowned for hosting top-level competitions, will provide the ideal setting for one of the most eagerly-awaited off-road events.

2026 UEC BMX Racing European Championships

In 2026, the BMX Racing European Championships will be held in Sarrians, France. The town, which is already a major player in the world of BMX, will welcome the continent's best athletes in a discipline that continues to grow in popularity and international prestige.

2026 and 2027 UEC Cyclo-Cross Youth European Championships

Vatra Dornei in Romania will host the Cyclo-Cross Youth European Championships for the 2026 and 2027 editions. Following the success of the 2024 edition, this event is confirmed as a key moment for the emergence of young talent in European Cyclo-Cross, contributing to the development and promotion of the discipline.

Enrico Della Casa, Union Européenne de Cyclisme President: “We are delighted with these awards. Downhill Mountain Biking and BMX Racing are two strong disciplines within our movement, while Cyclo-Cross, thanks to the success of the first edition of the Youth European Championships in 2024, is experiencing significant growth, particularly among young people.

The UEC continues to pay particular attention to young people, who represent the future of European cycling.

We would like to thank the event organisers and the Presidents of the National Federations of Spain, José Vicioso, France, Michel Callot, and Romania, Catalin Sprinceana, for their invaluable support and the collaboration that makes the organisation of such important events possible.”

José Vicioso, President of the ‘Real Federación Española de Ciclismo: “We're very proud to be hosting the 2025 edition of the Downhill European Championships and to demonstrate our country's ability to host such major events.

We have before us a unique opportunity to showcase La Molina ski resort and the Catalan Pyrenees internationally as an exceptional venue for mountain bikers, thanks to its extraordinary Bike Park and unrivalled infrastructure, where cyclists will find everything they need.

I would like to thank the UEC for its confidence in Spain, which continues to host some of the most important events on the cycling scene every year.”

Michel Callot, President of the French Cycling Federation: “The French Cycling Federation is delighted and very proud to be able to organise the 2026 UEC BMX Racing European Championships in France.

BMX Racing is a prestigious, spectacular and fast-growing discipline, boosted by our French team's historic treble at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

I would like to thank President Enrico Della Casa for his confidence, which reflects our shared desire to maintain a strong relationship between the FFC and the UEC.

This decision validates the quality of our expertise in organising international events, as demonstrated by the huge success of the 2025 UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships held in Liévin earlier this year, which attracted 50,000 spectators.

And there’s still more to come! This year, the FFC will again have the pleasure of organising another UEC European Championships, with the Road event in October in Drome Ardèche and next year, the UEC Congress to be held in the charming Palais des Papes in Avignon.

Then comes the organisation of the UCI Cycling World Championships in Haute Savoie in 2027. These international sporting events are a great way of boosting our cycling and showcasing the cultural and tourist heritage of our regions to the world. The 2026 UEC BMX Racing European Championships will undoubtedly be a great celebration of cycling.

Catalin Sprinceana, President of Romanian Cycling Federation: “We are extremely happy and honored to continue bringing major cycling events to Romania, following the successful projects started in 2024 in collaboration with the UEC.

Hosting the second European Championship, the 2026 & 2027 UEC Cyclo-Cross Youth Championships, is both a source of pride and a great responsibility for our country, which is committed to organizing major international events on a regular basis.

With deep gratitude, I would like to thank President Enrico Della Casa for his trust in us and for supporting the continuation of this national project.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to the event organizer, Clubul Sportiv A Pedal Forward, and its President, Bogdan Brînză, for the dedication and enthusiasm that made this event possible in Vatra Dornei, a stunning and perfectly suited location.

Last but not least, my sincere thanks to the National Sports Agency and its President, Bogdan Constantin Matei, for their continuous support. We are proud to have the Government of Romania by our side in these cycling projects.”
